Busy getting nowhere?

In this busy world, distraction has never been so great.  You could easily lose hours, days, weeks, or even years to mindless activities.  Time can tick by without anything being achieved.  If you don’t get focused, your whole life could pass you by, and you may end up feeling empty, or looking back with regret.

Have you actually set goals?

If so, then what action steps are you taking right now to achieve them?

So much time can be lost and energy drained through distraction.  It’s essential that you recognise when you are being focused, and when you are not.

Know what your goals are and take appropriate action to achieve them.

You should already have your goals written down.  If not then take a few minutes to list them – the big and the small.

What are your main distractions?

Write a list:

  • Mindless TV
  • Surfing the internet
  • Other peoples dramas
  • Emails
  • Newspapers / magazines
  • Shopping
  • Going to the pub
  • etc, etc, etc

With your goals on one list and your distractions on another, it’s clear to see how much time and energy you focus on your dreams and ambitions, and how much just slips away meaninglessly.

Be really honest with yourself.
Are you goal focused and taking appropriate action today?
Or, are you wasting time and energy?

If you are predominately goal focused then praise yourself for being on track; you are steadily working towards the life of your dreams, if not already there.

If you realise you’ve been wasting a lot of precious time, and have been distracted with less important things, you are now aware and have the power to change.

Each time you think about what to do next, or you find yourself drawn in a particular direction –

Ask yourself: Is this thing I’m about to do moving me towards my success, or away from it?

Your ultimate success, living the life of your dreams, is attainable when you take action.  Each action will either move you towards achievement or away from it.  Time is either spent focused, or distracted.  Energy is either used efficiently, or wasted.  You are either on track, or getting lost along the way.

Regardless of your personal goals, what you wish to achieve in your life – success takes focus, dedication, motivation, enthusiasm, passion and commitment.  Don’t waste time on mindless distractions – you are worth so much more than this.

Ask yourself:
Is doing this (whatever it is) helping me to achieve success?
Is this the best use of my time?
Is this the best focus for my energy?

Learning to know what your distractions are is the first step.
Learning to gently bring yourself back to focus will change your life.
Being focused will help you achieve anything you put your mind to.

Get your mind on track today.  Set yourself a task, and stay focused until it’s done.  Make sure you know what your goals are and set about achieving them – the big and the small.

Let nothing distract you from the true happiness you deserve.
