“Best course of my life!”

We have had a few couples attending the Life Upgrade course, and we’ve also seen a rise in the numbers of people booking their partners to attend upcoming training.  A shared journey indeed.  We have continued to receive great feedback from all those attending, and the feedback I like the best is that which comes in the post or via email, weeks after the course.

Questions to Answer

I was contacted this week by a magazine who are interested in finding out more about Life Upgrade.  I realised that it’s a bit like watching the TV or listening to the radio – easy to do but not so easy to explain when someone asks you how it works.  When sitting watching the TV or enjoying the radio, how it works seems somehow unimportant.  It is the actual experience that counts.

Spring clean with supergreens

If you have ever looked at a bright green drink and thought, yuk, then I would like to set you a spring clean, supergreen challenge.  If you have ever looked at a bright green drink and thought “that looks yummy and full of goodness”, but have never let one pass your lips then you too can take the challenge and let me know how you get on.

Green smoothieAll you need is a blender, the thing that goes zuizzz.
Take some pineapple (tinned organic is fine if you can’t get fresh and ripe)
A handful or two of organic spinach
(you can increase the amount over time, to your acquired taste)
Add enough water to get it to blend, and to your taste.
And zuizz in the blender until scrummy with no bits – this will depend on how good your blender is.
Pour into your finest glass, and enjoy through a straw, with optional umbrella.

Kids at EasterThe egg, the symbol of new life.  At this time of year new life is springing up everywhere.  The daffodils are finally out, there are lambs in the fields, and at the Nurtons last weekend I saw the first of the duck eggs.

We have an annual Easter egg hunt here at Magic Cottage.  It is always so much fun and quite chaotic.  After all the children have arrived it is the job of one adult to sneak off, to the end of the track, and place the empty basket there for the children to find.  Once in place, another adult suggests that perhaps the Easter Bunny is in the area, and that the only way to know for sure is to take a walk through the woods to see if there is a basket anywhere.  All the children then go off in search of Bunny’s empty basket, a sign that the eggs have been delivered. Healthy Chocolate

Cacao podIt isn’t just children who love chocolate, it is a great favourite of adults too.  People love it, perhaps women more than men, particularly at that special time of the month.

So, why is it that chocolate is responsible for so much inner anxiety, stress and emotional turmoil?

Why do so many people battle with their thoughts and feeling about chocolate?
Why is it that so many people feel such and uncontrollable urge for it, which they either deny, or succumb to and then feel guilty?

The answer to these questions and so much more, is in the chocolate choices we make.  We are surrounded by these colourful wrappers and bombarded with clever marketing which invites us to savour the delights of chocolate.  It’s a multi-million dollar industry and one which we have been brainwashed to have guilty pleasure in.

However, real chocolate called cacao (pronounced ka-cow) is so tasty and incredibly good for you that you can eat it everyday without guilt.  Yes ladies, I did just say that you can eat this amazing choc everyday – in fact I highly recommend it!

I am not in anyway talking about those choc bars that you see in the shops, those ones that shout at you from the shelves all day, everyday, everywhere.  Not that over processed, sugary, fatty gack – there is nothing healthy about that chocolate at all, no matter how beautifully they wrap it or how cleverly they market it. 

I am talking about the real stuff – Raw Cacao.
It has the highest antioxidant value of all the natural foods in the world.  When it comes to supplying your body with effective antioxidants, no other natural food can even come close.  The antioxidants in cacao are easily absorbed by the human body, and are more stable and long-lasting than those in any other foods.  Cacao is a good source of magnesium, calcium, sulphur, iron, copper, zinc, potassium, manganese, as well as some B vitamins.

To think, you can have all that scrumptious pleasure as part of a healthy lifestyle and at last let go completely of all those emotional highs and lows.

Energy & Vitality

ExpandedMany people feel that they don’t have enough energy to do all the things they need, or want to do.  Many people find that they rely on sugar and caffeine to stimulate their energy levels only to find themselves on a roller-coaster of ups and downs. 

I love superfoods as they are so energising, and cacao, raw chocolate is my all time favourite.  A food of the gods, for all you gods and goddesses.  Making conscious food choices which optimise health, promote well-being, increase stamina, energy and vitality makes effortless healthy living sustainable. 

Many people crave chocolate, they intuitively know that chocolate is good for them, but rather than eating this healthy gift as nature intended, we’ve been duped.  We’ve had our healthy raw cacao taken away and instead we’ve been sold a sugary, over-processed alternative which has no health benefits at all. 

If you want more energy eat raw cacao.
As a powerful sources of magnesium it will help keep you alert and active whilst elevating your mood.  Magnesium is one of the most deficient minerals in the human body and eating cacao sure beats taking all those supplements – and is much more fun.

A lack of magnesium can leave people feeling sluggish, agitated and stressed. 
As well as magnesium, and many other minerals, raw chocolate also contains tryptophan – an essential amino acid – which helps naturally produce serotonin.  This will not only boost your mood and help you feel good, it makes life flow better and leaves you feeling energised and in control, rather than tired and overwhelmed.  It can also help regulate sleep.

Making your own cacao chocolate is almost as easy as making a cup of tea.  Do it once and you will want to do it again and again.  This will soon form a new healthy and happy habit within your subconscious mind – taking the place of some of those less healthy patterns and habits.

Making positive choices

Chocolate heartsThere is always a way of upgrading your life when you open up to making new, different and inspired choices.  This forms new healthy habits for the future you, the happy you – full of energy and vitality. 

Remember, if you keep doing things the same way then you will always get the same results.  If you want different results then you have to make different choices – fact.

Making different choices with regards to food can be absolutely transformational and yet people are often stuck in habits, because of automatic subconscious responses, which make them eat the same old stuff, even when they know intuitively that their body does not necessarily respond well.

Breaking free from old, out-dated subconscious programs has never been more important, and when it comes to food there are endless opportunities to reprogram and start making positive choices, which will inevitably result in more energy, vitality and improved health.

Often people make the choice to deny themselves the things that they believe they shouldn’t have – setting up a cycle of self-denial, failure and guilt.  There are so many choices which you can make which will help you live free from guilt and be successful in achieving your goals, whilst allowing yourself greater health benefits and increasing energy.

Shifting Consciousness

EnergyBeing happy and healthy is essential.  Moving into a new way of thinking means that the old way of doing things just doesn’t work any more.  Many people work on changing the way they think in order to change the way they feel and then they wonder why their physical health is worse.  Those of you working in the holistic field know that the mind is not separate from the body and yet when it comes to change and transformation the mind is mercurial and consciously changes quickly, whilst the old subconscious habits which are ‘stuck’ hold energy and toxicity within the physical body and can be harder to remove.

The mind can know without doubt that the food eaten will leave the body feeling bloated, tired and overwhelmed, but still the auto-response says eat, and so you do. 

As your awareness shifts and changes, and all the new insights which guide your life integrate and consciousness expands, the physical body struggles more and more to keep up.  As your consciousness changes and your vibration becomes lighter the foods you eat feel denser.

Many people are finding themselves in a quandary, the body feels heavy and often toxic.  The result of this is sickness and disease.  The mind is conscious of the need for change and the information available has never been more accessible, and yet the choices can be hard to make as the habits run deep.  But more than that, the Upgrade to super-consciousness is not done through mind alone – the body has to make its transformational journey too and will do so through super/living foods. 

Moment by moment, step by step, choices are being made which either tie you to the past or awaken you to the Super Being you are. 

As the consciousness of humanity shifts, chocolate is most certainly on the agenda, but as with many things within this Great Shift, not everything is quite how it seems, not everything you believed to be true is so, and not everything you will learn along the way has to be hard or traumatic, or emotionally challenging. 

Some changes are made difficult due to lack of knowledge or limited perspective.  As the mind finds greater knowledge and changes its perspective so the body will follow. 

A new mind is on the horizon, it is intelligent, powerful, inspired and creative, it lives consciously and because of this it intuitively knows how to make choices which keeps its body healthy, fit and strong.  The new mind seeks a new way of thinking, which creates a new way of being.  The new mind, and its new energised body, creates the most vibrant and sustainable vessel through which the true Divine self can shine out. 

A great shift in humanity’s consciousness is taking place through the tiny conscious choices you make on a moment by moment basis.  Choose to do things differently, because you know it makes intuitive sense.

Food for gods and goddesses

Raw chocolate cupcakeMany of you have asked me for recipes, particularly easy cacao/raw chocolate ones which will keep you buzzing and energised.  Here’s the recipe for the Chocolate Cupcakes I brought to the recent Life Upgrade class.  I know you will enjoy making them as much as you enjoy eating them.  Share with those you love, especially yourself. 

Chocolate Cupcake recipe (yum!)

Makes 12 mini cupcakes

  • 1 1/2 cups raw walnuts
  • Pinch salt
  • 8 pitted medjool dates
  • 1/3 cup raw cacao powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon filtered water

Whiz walnuts and salt into food processor until finely ground
Add the dates and process until the mixture begins to stick together.
Add the cacao powder, vanilla extract, tiny bit of water and process until all gooey.

Take bits of mixture and squidge into cupcake case.
(I use those re-usable silicone cupcake cases / anything will do)

Choc Topping

  • 1/2 cup dark agave syrup or maple syrup (less or more depending on your taste)
  • 3/4 cup raw cacao powder
  • 1/3 cup virgin coconut oil, melted
  • Pinch salt

Put coconut oil in a little dish and stand dish in hot water until it melts.
Mix all ingredients together either using a spoon or blender. 

Spread choc topping on each cupcake.  Decorate with a little piece of date or walnut if you fancy.

Chill the mini cupcakes in the fridge for a while (30mins plus) – whilst licking the bowl, spoon and eating any leftover topping!
